Office Visit at StoneX

Recently, Kings Capital partnered up with StoneX to empower the women students of KCL to pursue financial careers. The “Advancing Women in the Institutional Space Conference”, held at the StoneX offices, featured talks by Charles Lyon (CEO of trading), and Ali Selbi, which highlighted the importance of fostering an equal environment in the workplace. They shared their experiences and emphasised how fostering diversity not only improves the culture within firms but also drives innovation across the financial sector.

Attendees were introduced to StoneX’s innovative approach to client relationships, which blends cutting-edge technology with an authentic and personalised service. Additionally, students gained technical insights into trading commodities and learned how technology is shaping the future of the industry. This session was particularly beneficial for those looking to break into trading, providing a clearer understanding of how technological advancements are transforming the way markets are accessed and analysed.

The event didn’t stop there, students were then able to network in one-on-one conversations with some of the firm’s senior leaders, including the CEO of trading, MDs, and members of the Talent Acquisition Team. Traders flew in from the Middle East and Latin America to share their unique, global perspectives on the markets and offered candid advice on building a successful career in trading. This personal interaction allowed attendees to ask questions, seek career guidance, and learn from professionals with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

King’s Capital’s commitment to empowering women into the financial field has been evident over the last 2 years where we’ve identified and tackled the issue of expertise and confidence from the earliest point, having developed an extensive academy programme, with a 45% female ratio for this year, which focuses on developing technical skills in trading L/S Equities, Derivatives and Quantitative algorithms for anyone who lacks the background but has a passion to learn about the financial industry.

We are immensely proud to support StoneX in its mission to empower women in the institutional trading space. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and providing more opportunities for women to excel in finance. Stay tuned for future events designed to help you build the skills and connections needed to thrive in the financial world.
